District 8 Spring Fling Regatta

Notice of Race

1 RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

Sails manufactured by non-class builders may be used; however the sailmaker shall comply with the class measurement diagrams.

2 ENTRIES

The event is open to boats of the Lasers and 4.7 Laser. Competitors may enter by delivering a completed entry form and paying the entry fee to Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club. Registration shall be held at the Seawanhaka Corinthian Junior Club starting at 10:00. The entry fee is $40.00 US.

3 NOTICES TO COMPETITORS & CHANGES IN THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located in the Junior Club. Changes to the Sailing Instructions shall be posted by 11:00.

4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be posted on the official notice board, which is located on the west side of the Junior Club Building.

5 SCHEDULE

A competitors’ meeting shall be held at 11:00 on April 1, 2023 at the Junior Club. No boats are to leave the shore until the safety boat(s) are afloat and operating. The warning signal for the first race will be at 12:00. Subsequent races will be held as soon as possible after the end of the previous race. A maximum of seven (7) races will be sailed.

6 COURSES and MARKS

The courses will be Windward Leeward, Triangle, Lindsay Hewitt, Harry Anderson or a combination of these or multiple rounds. The course will be hailed by the Race Committee prior to the warning signal. All marks will be orange or red spheres.

7 PROTESTS

Boats intending to file a protest or request redress shall notify the Signal Boat after finishing the race during which the incident occurred. This modifies RRS 61.3.

9 ARBITRATION and ALTERNATIVE

US Sailing Prescription Appendix T - Arbitration shall be offered.  

10 SCORING

The scoring of each series shall use Appendix A- Scoring. 1 race is required in order to have a series. A boat’s worst score shall be excluded if 5 races are completed.
